How to get started with your virtual camera

  1. Scan QR code to link devices
    On your computer, select 'VCam' in the virtual camera properties tab to generate a unique QR code. Use your phone or tablet (iOS & Android) to scan. This will link your handheld device to your computer, and turn it into a real-time 3D camera - no downloads necessary. Discover Canvas

  2. Frame your shot
    Choose from a range of industry-standard presets, including a selection of lenses, sensor sizes, and crop factors to mirror real-world camera setups. Toggle DoF on/off for a more cinematic feel, and frame your shot with the same precision controls as on-set cameras.

RADiCAL VCam is being released in public beta and may experience unexpected behavior. While we are actively refining its performance, certain features — such as recording — are not yet available but will be introduced in future updates. What is VCam, and how does it work?
RADiCAL VCam simulates real world cinematography with realistic sensor size, crop factor and lens simulations. It works in real time, right on your mobile device, with 6 degrees of freedom.

VCam will capture your mobile device's position and rotation while connected with your camera in RADiCAL, enabling massive real-time collaboration with your team.

Troubleshooting

If you are seeing error messages or are unable to connect/authenticate your device to launch VCam, please follow these steps:

  • Make sure your desktop and phone/tablet are connected to the same wifi.
  • When scanning the QR code in Canvas, this link will need to be opened directly in Safari. To do this: make Safari your default browser on your phone/tablet.
  • Ensure that you are approving and authenticating any pop-ups that appear. Rejecting or cancelling out won’t launch VCam.
  • You can only use the QR code once to connect; if you time out or accidentally exit the screen, you'll need to refresh your Canvas to generate a new code. This is to retain private access to your file.
